Bladder Instillation For Painful Bladder Syndrome - South Land Urology and Aesthetics

Bladder Instillation For Painful Bladder Syndrome

When patients with painful bladder syndrome have a flare, treatment can’t wait. It is our goal to get those patients suffering with a painful flare into the clinic as soon as possible. One treatment that can offer immediate relief is a bladder instillation. During this procedure, medicine is delivered into the bladder to calm the bladder and ease the pain.

When you present to our clinic you will be asked to give a urine sample to rule out a urinary tract infection. We will then numb the urethra with lidocaine numbing jelly. A small catheter is then inserted into the bladder and medicine is delivered into the bladder via the catheter.

The catheter is then removed. The medicine will dwell in the bladder until you have to void. This treatment usually provides immediate relief.

If you have ever experienced a little anxiety over trying a new procedure, we offer Pro-Nox, a safe relaxation method for cosmetic and urological treatments.
