A circumcision is the removal of foreskin that covers the head of the penis. This can be an elective procedure or it can be performed due to medical concerns such as recurrent Balanitis (infection of the head of the penis and foreskin) or Phimosis, in which the foreskin cannot be retracted.
The procedure is done in an operating room under general anesthetic. During the procedure you will be asleep. After the procedure you will go home with pain medications to ensure you are comfortable while you recover. The healing process differs between patients however the skin generally heals within 7-10 days.
You may return to work in 3-4 days.
