Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) - South Land Urology and Aesthetics

Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS)

PTNS is an office procedure offered to patients who suffer from over active bladder. It consists of a small electrode placed on your lower leg. This electrode stimulates the posterior tibial nerve which connects to nerves in your pelvis and lower back that control the bladder. By stimulating these nerves, we can “reset” the and modulate the bladder.

During the treatment you will feel a slight tingling sensation as the electrode stimulates the tibial nerve. Every session is 30 min, therefore, it is recommended that you bring a book, otherwise feel free to watch our television in our treatment room.

Often patients receive 12 treatments and will require maintenance in order to achieve the best results.

If you have ever experienced a little anxiety over trying a new procedure, we offer Pro-Nox, a safe relaxation method for cosmetic and urological treatments.
