Urinary tract infections are one of the most common conditions encountered by medical professionals. Greater than 50% of all women and 12% of all men have a UTI in their lifetime. 11% of women report having at least one a year.
Patients who present to a urologist often have recurrent, complicated or difficult-to-treat UTIs. These infections can have a significant impact on quality of life, as they induce pain, often requiring antibiotics, missed work or time to attend numerous appointments.
Our role at South Land Urology is to manage complex UTIs while simultaneously working to find an underlying causes as to prevent further episodes. As antibiotic resistance increases, managing and preventing UTIs has become increasingly more important.
During your initial consultation with South Land Urology we will perform a thorough history and physical examination. We will obtain a urine sample, perform an ultrasound on your bladder and likely obtain X-rays of your kidneys. These diagnostic tests will help us to evaluate the entire urinary tract. If there are more complicated symptoms we may also recommend a cystoscopy. We understand that recurrent and complicated UTIs can have a significant impact on you life and well being. We are dedicated to working with you to find the best way to prevent and treat so as you can get back to the important things in life.
