UroLift® Procedure - South Land Urology and Aesthetics

UroLift® Procedure

Treat BPH Symptoms of Enlarged Prostate in Kyle, Austin and San Marcos Texas

South Land Urology offers an excellent new FDA approved treatment for men suffering from BPH symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Using a system called UroLift®, patients undergo a procedure to lift and hold the enlarged prostate so that it no longer blocks the urethra. UroLift® provides a less invasive treatment option to correct BPH without undergoing major surgery.

Dr. Roberts has performed many of these procedures, successfully and with little downtime for patients. She is recognized as one of the South’s leading board certified urologists in the Austin and San Marcos region.

What Are BPH Symptoms?

If you have BPH, you may be experiencing some or all of these symptoms. Since many of the same conditions are also found in prostate cancer, you need to be examined and tested to determine your exact diagnosis.

Symptoms of both BPH and prostate cancer include:

  • Urgency to urinate
  • Constant need to urinate
  • Weak release of urine
  • Straining or pushing to urinate
  • Pressure in your urinary tract

How Does the UroLift® System Work?

UroLift® uses a revolutionary delivery device and implant system to improve the quality of life for men experiencing the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Step 1 involves insertion of a small cannula or tube like device through the urethra. With the use of a cystoscope, the urologist is able to visualize the procedure and area of obstruction.

Step 2 uses the cannula delivery system to deploy and attach the implant and position the obstructing lobes of the enlarged prostate tissue away from the urethra. This allows patients to experience immediate urinary relief.

The UroLift® procedure typically can be performed in and hour or less. It does not hinder future UroLift System treatments, TURP, or laser procedures.

According to the largest randomized controlled study for clinical advantages and durability of prostatic urinary lift implants:

  • Offers rapid improvement in symptoms
  • Urinary flow rate that is durable to 5 years
  • Symptom improvement correlated with patient satisfaction
  • Offers a minimally invasive option for treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms
  • Free from adverse effects
